Lansing – In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, the celebration of the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the battle of the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer has released this photo of herself celebrating the holiday at home.
Whitmer tweeted out this photo earlier with the statement, “Happy sinko de mio! I love Chinese food.”
We’re not sure what the Chinese food statement has to do with Cinco de Mayo, a celebration created by Mexican American immigrants in Los Angeles in the 1860s, but we’re happy to see that the governor is enjoying her breakfast.
